美國總統特朗普4日表示，並不憂慮民主黨人明年掌控國會後發起對其的彈劾，認為此舉將會「摧毀」民主黨。對於外界質疑會否撤換國防部長赫格塞思，特朗普認為赫格塞思工作做得非常好，不會考慮撤換國防部長。

特朗普表明不撤換國防部長

美國總統特朗普4日在白宮宴會廳施工現場觀看橫梁架設並在橫梁上簽名，被問及會否憂慮民主黨人明年掌控國會後發起對其的彈劾。特朗普表示，一點兒也不憂慮，認為當民主黨人毫無理由地發起彈劾，此舉將會「摧毀」民主黨。特朗普質疑發起彈劾的動機，「為什麼呢？難道是因為有一個成功的國家？我們國家現在比歷史上任何時期都成功。等著瞧吧。」

美國《哥倫比亞廣播公司》較早前引述消息人士報道，指在共和黨中期選舉失利後，特朗普曾詢問顧問國防部長赫格塞思是否應該繼續留任。對於外界質疑會否撤換國防部長時，特朗普明確表明不會撤換赫格塞思，又認為其工作做得「非常好」。

指油價上漲為選舉失利原因

對於中期選舉失利，特朗普表示同意副總統萬斯（JD Vance）的觀點，中期選舉共和黨失利是因為伊朗戰爭導致油價上漲，「這在很大程度上是事實，因為它推高了汽油價格……但與此同時，如果我能再來一次，我還是得這麼做，因為從長遠來看，這是唯一的答案。你不能讓伊朗擁有核武。」
