在第13輪中美貿易談判結束前，美國總統特朗普12日於白宮辦公室會見中國副總理劉鶴，劉鶴將習近平致特朗普的信函交予特朗普，其後特朗普向在場傳媒展示信件，意外將信函內宮曝光。特朗普表示，「非常感謝，我已經讀到這封信，這是習主席發來的。我們都知道第一階段的貿易協議將會十分成功，用很多時間才達至此階段；這對中美兩國都是好事，我們非常感激，並祝賀習主席」。

Message to President Donald J. Trump

總統先生，你好！在中美舉行新一輪經貿團隊的磋商之際，我委託劉鶴副總理轉達我對你的誠摯問候，感謝你就中華人民共和國成立70周年發來賀電，並轉來我們6月在大阪一同出席二十國集團領導人峰會的照片。

Mr. President, good afternoon. I ask Vice Premier Liu He to bring to you my best wishes as a new round of China-US high-level economic and trade consultations is being held. I thank you for your congratulatory message for the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China and the photos you sent of us attending the G20 Osaka Summit together in June.

近來，中美經貿團隊保持溝通，相互釋放了善意，受到人民和國際社會歡迎。

Lately, the economic and trade teams of our two sides have stayed in communication and shown each other goodwill, which had been welcomed by our two peoples and the international community.

我高度重視總統先生在農產品問題上的關切，近期中方有關企業已加快採購大豆、豬肉等美國農產品。兩國經貿團隊已在部分協議磋商上取得進展，雙方要妥善解決彼此關切，爭取就其他領域的問題取得緊急進展。

Mr. President, I attach great importance to your concerns on agricultural products. Recently, the Chinese companies involved have accelerated purchases of American agricultural products, including soy beans and pork. With our two teams making progress on some parts of the agreement under consultation, it is important that we address each other’s concerns properly and make positive headway in the other areas as well.

保持中美關係健康穩定發展，對兩國、對世界都有利。希望雙方遵循我同總統先生確定的原則和方向、堅持協調、合作、穩定的基調，在相互尊重基礎上管控分歧，在互惠互利基礎上拓展合作，推動兩國關係沿着正確軌道向前發展。

A healthy and steady China-US relationship serves the interest of our two countries and the world at large. I hope the two sides will act in the principle and direction you and I have agreed to, and work to advance China-US relations based on coordination, cooperation and stability. Let us work together to manage differences on the basis of mutual respect and expand cooperation for mutual benefit, so as to bring our relations forward along the right track.
